
Ashley Snell, RVT
I took my training in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at Southeast Technical Institute. After finishing my clinical internship at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, I accepted a position with Northern Iowa Vascular Lab. I have been working as a Registered Vascular Technologist for two-and-a-half years.
I am married and we are expecting our first child. I enjoy traveling back home to see family and spending time with my husband and our little yorkiepoo, Jezebel.

Julie Cartney, RDMS, RVT, RTR
I started my career in ultrasound in 1988. I worked as a registered sonographer at Covenant Medical Center for 17 years. I did abdominal, OB, small parts and some vascular studies. I accepted a position with Cedar Valley Medical Specialist at Advanced Diagnostic Imaging Center. After one year I became employed by Northern Iowa Vascular Lab. In 2007 I earned my registry in vascular ultrasound.
I am married and have three daughters. I enjoy the outdoors and camping with my family. My spare time is occupied with our children’s extracurricular activities.

Michelle Wehr, RVT, RTR
I finished Radiology School in 1998 and started Vascular Sonography in 2001. I did my Vascular Sonography training at Allen Memorial Hospital and through the Burwin Institute for Medical Sonography based out of Canada. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of the vascular system and cannot say I enjoy one area more than the other.

Shannon Duitsman, BS, RVT
I trained in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and graduated with an AAS degree in cardiovascular sonography with an emphasis in vascular, and passed my boards in 2004. I did my clinicals in Des Moines at Mercy Hospital. I have worked in Waterloo, Iowa since 2004. I have my B.S. in healthcare management.
I am married with 2 children. My hobbies include spending time with my family, spending time in the outdoors, scrapbooking, & baking.

Karen Smith, BS, RDMS, RVT, RTR
I have been in the field of ultrasound for almost 13 years. I am registered in abdominal, small parts, Obstetrical-Gynecological, and vascular ultrasounds.
I started out at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo doing primarily general ultrasound with some limited vascular ultrasound. I then took a traveling job where I went to various clinics and hospitals in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois. I have now settled in a job close to home here at the Northern Iowa Vascular Lab. I have expanded my vascular ultrasound and continue scanning abdomen, small parts, and OB-Gyn.
I am married with two boys. I enjoy traveling with my family and singing on our worship team at the Heartland Vineyard Church.

Emily Barber, RVT, RTR
My name is Emily Barber and I have been doing ultrasound for 8 years. I went to Covenant School of Radiographyand graduated in 2002. I was sent down to the Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics in Alabama for my ultrasound training. I worked at Covenant from 2002-2005, and have been working for Cedar Vally Medical Specialists since.
I am married and have 2 active boys. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, watching sports, reading, and spending time outside.

David Merry, RVT, RTR
Born and raised in Cedar Falls Iowa. Graduated from CF High school were he then worked for 21 years in research and development for Chamberlain Corp. After they closed he returned to school and graduated from Radiologic Tech in 1995, he then cross trained into vascular tech and became an RVT in 1997.
For hobbies Dave enjoys singing in the gospel band the Pilgrims as a lead singer. He has been known to impersonate Elvis Presley.
Dave is married with 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
